Event Title Notes

× The band will perform a wide variety of selections to please all music tastes – perhaps even create a new favorite! Under the direction of Bill Berlyn, the band will perform several selections that reflect on our armed forces. “Testimonials to Liberty” is a showcase of the most recognizable utterances, poems, and addresses by leaders of our citizenry attesting to liberty and freedom during the past 200 years. Bill Berlyn will narrate while the band is playing “Hymn to the Fallen”, “Let Freedom Ring”, and “Heroic Variations.”

Under the direction of David Vandermeuse, the band will perform “Die Zauberflote”, the overture from The Magic Flute, “Finale from the New World Symphony”, and Symphonic Highlights from the movie “Frozen”, and “Concertante for Piano and Band” featuring Ernie Brusubardis on piano. Mr. Brusubardis is the director of the choral program at Hartford Union High School and has Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education from UW-Milwaukee. To round out the concert, there will be a few more selections, including two marches.

The band is always looking for musicians to join. If you played an instrument, even if it has been a while, consider coming to a rehearsal. If you don’t have your instrument, the band can provide you with one. The band rehearses every Monday night at 8:00 pm in the rehearsal hall at the Schauer Center. There are no dues or tryouts. You can learn more about the band by visiting HartfordCityBand.org. The Hartford City Band is a resident tenant of the Schauer Center.
