× Wintersong MKE is a night of local music to benefit Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin

WHAT: Wintersong Milwaukee is a night of local indie music to benefit Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. Anna Vogelzang curated the first Wintersong in Madison in 2012 and is now planning the Fourth Annual Wintersong Madison. Andrew Milam attended the Madison benefit in 2014 and fell in love with the concept. With Vogelzang’s blessing, Milam is bringing Wintersong to the Milwaukee area on December 19, 2015. Milam has a history with Feeding America, organizing several Writer’s Harvest benefit poetry readings during his time in Cincinnati, Ohio. With his passion for local music, Milam is excited to continue the Wintersong tradition of giving, warmth and friendship, while giving back to the community that has given him so much.

WHO: Wintersong Milwaukee is bridging the spectrum of bands from Foreign Fields, who has firm roots in Wisconsin, to Zach Pietrini, who has become a staple in the Milwaukee music scene. It is also an opportunity for local bands like Mead Lake’s Most Wanted to stretch their young legs, as well as bands with ties to the community, Like the Birds, to return home. Wintersong Madison has a tradition of collaboration and friendship between bands and Wintersong Milwaukee is carrying on that tradition.

WHERE: It may seem odd that Wintersong Milwaukee is being held at the Schauer Arts Center in Hartford, WI. With it’s strong ties to the community and status as a non-profit regional center for the arts, The Schauer Center is a perfect fit. If you’ve never been to the beautiful Ruth A. Knoll Theater, Wintersong Milwaukee will be the perfect introduction to one of the Milwaukee area’s best kept secrets.
