Under the artistic direction of founding director Ruth A. Knoll and accompianied by Ken French, the Hartford Community Chorus will perform music that brings an emotional response of vitality, hope, and peace. The Chorus will perform early American church favorites such as Amazing Grace, sung in true gospel spirit, and an arrangement of Sine Nomine with rich harmonies, often known as For All the Saints. The Road Not Taken and The Road Home are sensitive and touching pieces of music. The musicality of the chorus is demonstrated through the engaging performance of How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place from the German Requiem by Brahms.
Of course the Chorus always adds familiar music to their repertoire -- Shenandoah, Deep River, and Take Me Home Country Roads are just a few of those popular requests. The final number, An American Trilogy, featuring a patriotic medley of songs, is presented with a strong gospel feeling, giving both heart and soul to the performance.
Tickets required for free admission. Freewill donations accepted.
Sponsored by the Hartford Recreation Department with additional support from the Schauer Arts & Activities Center. For further info, visit HartfordCommunityChorus.org.
